Why do we write?

People write for many different reasons, on blogs and in other venues.

But no better reason has ever been given than the reason St. John gives in today’s first reading (1 John 5:5-13):

I write these things to you so that you may know
that you have eternal life,
you who believe in the name of the Son of God.

May each of us
write more often
for this reason.
