New diocese and bishop

The Holy Father this morning created the new Diocese of Sindhudurg, India, taking its territory from the Diocese of Poona and aligning it with the Archdiocese of Bombay. He named Father Anthony Alwyn Fernandes Barreto, a 52-year old parish priest within the territory of the new diocese, as its first bishop.
