Family matters
In today’s first reading (excerpted from the 23rd and 24th chapters of Genesis), Abraham obtains a burial place for his wife and a wife for his son. These are normal things of family life, although some of the things recounted seem strange to us today, but at the center of the passage is Abraham’s restatement of his faith in God’s promise: a faith that comforts him in his concern about his son’s future.
So too may we, in both the normal and the complex things of our lives and our relationships, be guided and comforted by our faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
