Bishop transitions

Bishop Joseph Patrick Delaney, Bishop of Fort Worth, was found dead in his home yesterday morning. He had been battling pancreatic cancer.

Monsignor Kevin Vann had been named coadjutor bishop last May and was scheduled to be consecrated a bishop this afternoon. Today’s ceremony will now be modified to include his installation as the actual bishop of the diocese.

On Monday, the Holy Father named two new Canadian bishops: Father Sylvain Lavoie, O.M.I., as coadjutor of the Archdiocese of Keewatin-Le Pas and Father Gerard Paul Bergie as auxiliary of Hamilton.
