Out of sync

In today’s Gospel (Jn. 16:20-23), our Lord gives another indication of how we may be out of sync with the rest of the world:

Amen, amen, I say to you,
you will weep and mourn,
while the world rejoices;
you will grieve,
but your grief will become joy….

So you also are now in anguish.
But I will see you again,
and your hearts will rejoice,
and no one will take your joy away from you.

It’s not so bad to be out of sync with the world if we are in sync with Christ and his everlasting joy.
