Unsuccessful
In today’s first reading (from Acts 17), St. Paul preaches to the people of Athens. The great Apostle to the Gentiles is ridiculed and asked to leave.
We too will not appear to be immediately successful in every effort we make in service to Christ and his word, yet we must remain faithful in that service and trust in the power of the Holy Spirit which is greater than any human eloquence.
But when he comes, the Spirit of truth,
he will guide you to all truth.
He will not speak on his own,
but he will speak what he hears,
and will declare to you
the things that are coming.
He will glorify me,
because he will take from what is mine
and declare it to you.
