Funeral stats
The Vatican this morning released the following statistics regarding the funeral of Pope John Paul II:
Concelebrants: 157 Cardinals.
Present: 700 bishops and archbishops, 3000 priests and prelates (300 priests distributing Holy Communion). 10 Sovereigns, 59 Heads of State, 3 Princes, 17 Heads of Government, 3 Spouse of Heads of State, 8 Vice-Heads of State, 6 Vice-Prime Ministers, 4 Presidents of Parliment, 12 Foreign Ministers, 13 other Ministers, 24 Ambassadors, 10 Heads of International Organizations. Delegations from 23 Orthodox Churches, 8 western Churches or Communions, 3 International Christian Organizations, as well as various representatives of Jewish and non-Christian religions and Interfaith Organizations. And last but not least, 500,000 members of the faithful in St. Peter’s Square and down the Via della Conciliazione.
Altogether, some three million pilgrims converged on Rome April 2-8.
