A Penitent Blogger

Mindful of my imperfections, seeking to know Truth more deeply and to live Love more fully.

Quid sum miser tunc dicturus? Quem patronum rogaturus? Cum vix iustus sit securus?
Recordare, Iesu pie, Quod sum causa tuae viae: Ne me perdas illa die...

Conform

Many people talk about how Christianity needs to adapt itself to the world of today.

The tragically funny thing is that people have always been saying that, because there is always tension and even conflict between the way of the world and the way of Christ.

Our Lord himself warned us of this from the very beginning, as we hear in today’s Gospel (John 15:18-21):

"If the world hates you,
realize that it hated me first.

”If you belonged to the world,
the world would love its own;
but because you do not belong to the world,
and I have chosen you out of the world,
the world hates you.

”Remember the word I spoke to you,
‘No slave is greater than his master.'
If they persecuted me,
they will also persecute you.

”If they kept my word,
they will also keep yours.
And they will do all these things to you
on account of my name,
because they do not know the one who sent me."

Faithful Christians are always nonconformists in the world, for true happiness is to be found in conformity with Christ.
