Religious order priests
exercise their sacramental ministry in the context of a religious community, bound together by the special charisms that make that community unique in its "living out" of the Gospel as well as by the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience (and sometimes other vows such as stability or particular obedience to the Holy Father).
Religious orders include the larger and more famous orders such as the Dominicans, the Jesuits, the Franciscans, and the Benedictines.
There are also many, many other religious communities that include priests. These are but a few of the hundreds:
Franciscan Friars of the Renewal
Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word
Capuchins
Oblates of the Virgin Mary
Passionists
Happy National Vocation Awareness Week!
