Now the movie
A new film has been released this week at theaters around the country on the life of St. Thérèse of Lisieux.
The film has been a labor of love for its makers and they have been struggling mightily to get it into theaters. Few explicitly religious films receive wide distribution, so it is worthwhile to support any such films that do get distributed.
The Passion of the Christ, of course, was very successful, artistically and economically (and for many, tremendously successful spiritually).
As for the film Thérèse itself, one reviewer, Steven D. Greydanus of DecentFilms.com, has called it "sweet, inspirational moviemaking" although he fears that it may not prove attractive to non-Catholics.
