Go deep
A Gospel passage earlier this week showed people trying to play games with our Lord. In today’s Gospel, our Lord appears to turn the tables on them and the crowd goes wild. But is our Lord really just throwing word games back at his critics?
Actually, our Lord is telling it the way it is: it may sound like a confusing word game, but it is really and simply the truth. It can be understood at different levels, but for those of us who believe, we go deeper and understand that the Messiah, Jesus our Savior, really is both Son of David and Lord: as man, he is Son of David and, as God, Jesus is Lord.
Sometimes we get confused in life or get confused about our faith. At times like those, God is often inviting us to go deeper, to delve further into the great gift of our faith, to understand more fully the wonderful mystery of our salvation – my salvation, your salvation – in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Let's not stay in confusion. Let's go deeper.
