Job description
Today's Epistle (2 Corinthians 5:17-21) contains a critical job description.
It is part of the job description for the Pope, whom the Cardinals will start to choose this week.
It is also a description for every Christian.
That means it's YOUR job (and my job too - sinner though I am).
Not all of us are ministers of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, but EVERY Christian MUST be ministers of the message of reconciliation.
"And all this is from God,
who has reconciled us
to Himself through Christ
and given us
the ministry of reconciliation,
namely,
God was reconciling
the world to himself
in Christ,
not counting
their trespasses against them
and entrusting to us
the message of reconciliation.
"So we are ambassadors for Christ,
as if God were appealing through us.
"We implore you
on behalf of Christ,
be reconciled to God."
(Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, be merciful to me -- a sinner.)
