Superior bishop

The Holy Father has accepted the retirement of the Most Reverend Raphael M. Fliss as Bishop of Superior, Wisconsin (USA) and has named as the new bishop Father Peter F. Christensen, a priest of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis and since 1999 Pastor of the Nativity of Our Lord parish in St. Paul. Bishop-elect Christensen was born in Pasadena, California in 1952. Before entering seminary, he worked as a graphic designer. He studied philosophy at Saint John Vianney College Seminary at the University of Saint Thomas and theology at Saint Paul Seminary in Saint Paul. He was ordained May 25, 1985 for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. He served as Assistant Pastor of Minneapolis’ St. Olaf parish until 1989 and then Spiritual Director at Saint John Vianney College Seminary until he was named Rector in 1992.
