Coadjutor in North West Canada
The Holy Father has named as Coadjutor Bishop of MacKenzie-Fort Smith (North West Territories, Canada) Father Murray Chatlain, a priest of the diocese of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and pastor of St. Patrick’s Church in Saskatoon.
Bishop-elect Chatlain was born in Saskatoon in 1963. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Saskatchewan and then aMasters of Divinity from St Peter’s Seminary in London, Ontario. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Saskatoon May 15, 1987. He has served in various parishes and high schools as well as the Guadalupe House (Center for First Nation Peoples). In 2000, he took a sabbatical year to study the Dene language before returning to parochial ministry.
