Image of the invisible
“Out of sight, out of mind,” goes the old saying, and indeed God, whom no man sees, does not seem to be on the mind of many people in this world.
Yet God reaches out to make himself known, most perfectly through Christ “the image of the invisible God” as the glorious hymn that makes up today’s first reading (Col. 1:15-20) says.
To which the cynic might reply, “Yeah, but I don’t see Christ either.”
But the reading goes on to say that “He is the head of the Body, the Church.”
As members of the Body of Christ, in our words and actions everyday, how well do you and I make Christ present?
What kind of image of God do we project to the world?
