Follow Christ and never despair
Today’s first reading (Deuteronomy 11:18, 26-28, 32) and today’s Gospel (Matthew 7:21-27) present us with a clear and perhaps even frightening choice: follow the commandments and do not simply pay lip service to Christ or suffer the curse of disobedience, complete ruination, and eternal exile.
Sinners that we are, we can and must follow Christ and do His will: never giving up, never despairing, no matter what – for as we hear in today’s Epistle (Romans 3:21-25, 28)
All have sinned
and are deprived of the glory of God.
They are justified freely by his grace
through the redemption in Christ Jesus....
