Something ordinary
"If the prophet had told you to do something extraordinary,
would you not have done it?"
So said the servants of the army commander in today’s first reading (2 Kings 5:1-15ab) when he initially rejected the instructions of the prophet Elisha.
He relented and did what he was told: something very ordinary, over and over and over again.
And God worked something miraculous.
This is a very good reminder to us on this Monday morning, as we begin yet another week that is likely to be filled with us doing the same ordinary things of life over and over and over again.
May we be faithful to God in all of the repetitions of ordinary things in our lives so that He may do extraordinary wonders.
