A Penitent Blogger

Mindful of my imperfections, seeking to know Truth more deeply and to live Love more fully.

Quid sum miser tunc dicturus? Quem patronum rogaturus? Cum vix iustus sit securus?

All of the above

In today’s first reading (Tobit 12:1, 5-15, 20), the archangel Raphael reveals his true identity, but not before giving a good amount of very good advice.

In the midst of this advice, is this:

Prayer and fasting are good,
but better than either
is almsgiving
accompanied by righteousness.

Prayer is good.

Penitence is good.

But a holy life is more.

Generosity is good.

Holiness of thought, word, and action is good.

In short, with the help of God’s grace, we should strive to do all of the above.
