Quo vadis?

Where are you going?

An ancient tradition says that St. Peter had once tried to escape his fate by leaving Rome.

'But when he wished to pass the gate of the city, he saw Christ meeting him.

'Falling down in adoration he said to Him
" Lord, whither goest Thou? "

'And Christ replied to him
" I am coming to Rome to be crucified again. "

'And Peter said to Him "Lord, wilt Thou again be crucified?" And the Lord said to him "Even so, I will again be crucified."

'Peter said to Him " Lord, I will return and will follow Thee. "'

'Ut autem portam civitatis voluit egredi, vidit sibi Christum occurrere. Et adorans eum ait: " Domine, quo vadis? " Respondit ei Christus: " Romam venio iterum crucifigi. " Et ait ad eum Petrus: "Domine, iterum crucifigeris?" Et dixit ad eum dominus: "Etiam, iterum crucifigar." Petrus autem dixit: " Domine, revertar et sequar te. "'

"Quo Vadis Days is a 3-day camp for young Catholic men to learn more about the priesthood, to deepen their faith, and to better discern God’s call in their lives. It was started in the Jubilee Year 2000 by Father John Cihak in the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon as a response to the Holy Father’s request (the great Pope John Paul II) that the Church begin 'The New Evangelization.' They have also been held by the Archdiocese of Seattle and the Diocese of Harrisburg.

The Quo Vadis Days website has some excellent information, including a fine video.

Happy National Vocation Awareness Week!
