Who are we?

Today’s Gospel selection from Mark 5 is a relatively long and complex narrative with several different people who exemplify different attitudes toward God.

Which of these people are more like us?

• Are we people who come to the Lord for help?
  
  
• Are we people whose faith begins to falter when things look bleak?
  
  
• Are we people whose faith enables us to push forward even when we are afraid?
  
  
• Are we people who just follow the crowd?
  
  
• Are we people who too quickly decide not to bother or try any longer?
  
  
• Are we people who let ourselves be overwhelmed too easily by our own pain and grief and ignore what else is happening around us?
  
  
• Are we people who ridicule the faith or the naiveté of others?
  
  
• Are we people who rise up in response the word of Christ?
  
  
• Are we people through whom Christ speaks to and raises up others?
