Sanctus

Photos from Institution of Lectors at the North American College, January 16th, 2005 - Click for larger image
Interestingly, as news of scandals and papal illness makes its rounds, so too has this photograph been making its rounds through the Catholic blogosphere (as a comment on the return of cassocks to seminaries).

I take it as a reminder that despite the sin and fraility of man, the holy work of the Lord (opus sanctum Domini) goes on.

The photograph is from a ceremony last month in which a few dozen young American men studying for the priesthood in Rome were instituted in the ministry of Lector.

May God who has begun this good work in them
bring it to fulfillment.
