Prophecy ala carte
Archbishop Sean O'Malley, O.F.M.Cap, a Franciscan friar and Archbishop of Boston, preached the homily at yesterday's traditional Mass to pray for those in the juridical arena (on the Sunday before the start of the Supreme Court's annual session).
In his homily, the Washington Times reports (hat tip to Amy Welborn), the Archbishop said,
"Too often when politicians agree with the Church's position on a given issue, they say the Church is prophetic and should be listened to, but if the Church's position does not coincide with theirs, then they scream separation of church and state."
Yesterday also happened to be Respect Life Sunday.
Ironically, a prominent Catholic politician has chosen today, the day after Respect Life Sunday, to promote experimentation on and exploitation of human embryos.
God help us all.
