It's official
The Holy See announced this morning that the Holy Father has accepted the resignation of Bishop Kurt Krenn, Bishop of Sankt Pölten, Austria, following a scandal in a seminary under his jurisdiction. The cited canon refers to a bishop who for some "grave reason has become unsuited for the fulfilment of his office."
The Holy Father has also accepted the resignation of Bishop Heinrich Fasching, auxiliary of the same diocese for reasons of age.
The Holy Father has appointed as the new bishop of the diocese Bishop Klaus Küng, previously Bishop of Feldkirch, Austria, who had been appointed earlier this year as Apostolic Visitor to investigate the troubles in Sankt Pölten. Bishop Küng is 64-years-old, a native of Feldkirch, a member of Opus Dei since 1962, and was ordained a priest in 1970.
