Doctor turns author

Luke was a bright boy and he grew up to be a doctor. He was very successful and was able to travel a good deal.

His life took a tremendous turn when he decided to become a Christian. He immediately immersed himself in the Church, rising to its highest levels: even to the point of possibly helping write one of the first important letters of a Pope. He himself wrote a couple of books: one about the life of Christ, the other about the history of the early Church.

One of the very unique things about his book of early Church history was that some of the narrative is told in the first person plural, as he describes journeys that he himself made with St. Paul the Apostle.

St. Luke, evangelist, author of a Gospel and of the Acts of the Apostles, is said to have died in his mid 70’s, “filled with the Holy Spirit.”
